Location: Oslo, Norway
Started bike commuting: 2010
Commute distance (one way): 8.4 km
Describe your commute: A nice ride going to work, mostly downhill all the way. Starting in a residential area I bike downtown, close to the city center of Oslo. The last part of my bike route goes through one of the main traffic routes in the city. Going back home I have an estimated climb of about 150 meters, making it a bit of a workout at the end of the day at work. I can choose from several possible routes, and do so to get some variation from day to day.
Describe your bike and accessories: These days I ride a recumbent racer. I use seat panniers to carry tools and clothes (for work). My recumbent is a Performer Agenda 700c. I use specialized glasses that changes colour according to the daylight. I use L&M Seca 400 as my commuting frontlight, and a red blinker as a rear light. I have shimano 540 clipless pedals and shimano xc shoes.
What bit of advice would you like to share with new bike commuters?: I’m really a starter at commuting but like it a lot. I thought it would be too much hassle before I started, but commuting to work turned out to be my favourite part of the day. I would recomend it to anyone to give it a try.
