Bicycle Commuter Profile: Carolyn

Bicycle Commuter Profile

Name: Carolyn
Location: Prince George, BC, Canada
Started bike commuting: 1991
Commute distance (one way): 2 kilometres

Describe your commute: It is not too long of a commute, but I go up all the way to work. It’s nice riding home as it’s downhill and I can pick up some speed. I bike in all 4 seasons. I have never owned a car (but can drive) and so I do everything by bicycle. I’ve also done a 389 kilometre bike tour from Prince George to Jasper, Alberta.

Describe your bike and accessories: I have a 2008 Rocky Mountain Whistler Hybrid. I have several accessories for it including a metal basket, a picnic basket, some Basil Twig Bags which are great . I am thinking of buying some Ortlieb Panniers for an upcoming tour this Summer.

For Winter, I have a beater bike for now, but am looking for a better mountain bike that I could use in the summer on the trails around town.

What bit of advice would you like to share with new bike commuters?: Don’t be afraid, just go out and do it! It is most fantastic thing that you can do. I enjoy riding every moment of the day.
