Bicycle Commuter Profile: Bill C.

Name: Bill C.
Location: Milford, CT USA
Started bike commuting: Summer 2010
Commute distance (one way): 16 miles
Describe your commute: I live close to the coast in Milford so my commute goes inland with a gradual elevation incline and a couple short climbs. I can spend a lot of time on quiet back roads with only a couple spots that I need to deal with high traffic. The last 5 miles of my morning commute take me through a beautiful park on a dirt trail that follows a small river. Fortunately my office has a locker room with showers, it wouldn’t be possible otherwise.
Describe your bike and accessories: I have a Cannondale CAAD9. Not an ideal commuter, but it’s all I’ve got and I enjoy riding it because it’s light, fast and responsive. I have a seat post clamp rear rack that I keep my work shoe’s/ lunch and my work clothes I keep in a backpack.
Plastic Bags.
What bit of advice would you like to share with new bike commuters?: Inexpensive way to keep important stuff dry. If it looks like it might rain, everything goes in plastic before it goes into my trunk/backpack.

Bill, that’s a nice photo. I enjoy riding through forests. Is this park along Housatonic River? Which one?
It’s actually 2 parks that are connected: Old Mine State Park and Indian Ledge Park. The Pequonnock River runs through them.
