Bicycle Commuter Profile: Glenn
Name: Glenn
Location: Greensboro, NC
Started bike commuting: 10 years ago, 4-5 days/week year round.
Commute distance (one way): 7 – 12 miles.
Describe your commute: Mostly suburban roadways with a short distance on bike ways/greenways. The last few miles near my work can be a bit tough with the truck traffic as my route goes right through a fuel pipe line distribution center. I have the flexibility of adjusting my work hours so that I ride in early and can leave before the rush hour traffic. For the most part I find drivers to be fairly considerate and I actually feel safer riding my bike than I do driving a car.
Describe your bike and accessories: Most of my commuting is done on my ANT single speed truss frame bike.
- Whit Ind. ENO double/double crankset
- 35mm tires
- Nitto North road bars
- Brooks
- Rear rack with REI Pannier
Sometimes I ride the Paramount in with a backpack.
What bit of advice would you like to share with new bike commuters?: Leave yourself time to enjoy the ride, even if you have to add a couple of miles to the route.
