Bicycle Commuter Profile: Richard W Rouse

Bicycle Commuter Profile

Name: Richard W Rouse
Location: Mount Juliet TN
Started bike commuting: 2008
Commute distance (one way): 19 miles

Describe your commute: The first and last 2 miles of my commute is on narrow roads with no bike lanes so I share the lane with cars. The 15 miles inbetween is on the Nashville greenways that follows the the Tennessee river through wooded areas and over rolling hills. I ride four to five days a week through the Spring, Summer and Fall. During the winter I ride two miles to the train station and two miles from the train station to the office.

Bicycle Commuter Profile

Describe your bike and accessories: 1985 Raleigh Grand Prix converted to a single speed. I carry everything in my Camel Back HAWG.

What bit of advice would you like to share with new bike commuters?: Start small, and plan ahead. I keep a belt and shoes in my desk so that I don’t have to carry those items.
