Location: Denver, CO
Started bike commuting: 1988 – 1991-ish then again in 2009 to present
Commute distance (one way): 2.5 miles
Describe your commute: Flat and lovely. My office is just on the opposite side of my neighborhood. I can ride either down the main street with a bike lane or wander through the neighborhood. Either route is shady and beautiful.
Describe your bike and accessories: My main commuter is a 1992 Bridgestone XO-2. She has folding wald baskets installed, a brass bell and fenders. Her Brooks saddle and VO Elkhide bar wrap are perfectly broken in which makes for a perfect ride every time. Two weeks ago she got an entirely new drivetrain and I’m shocked at what a marked difference it makes!
What bit of advice would you like to share with new bike commuters?: Give yourself time to create the new habit. What is it they say, 21 days to solidify a new habit? Do it and you will not have regrets! Once the pattern becomes part of your week you’ll despise any days when you find yourself having to take another form of transportation.
