Bicycle Commuter Profile: Constance Winters
Name: Constance Winters
Location: Somerville/Cambridge, MA
Started bike commuting: April 2009
Commute distance (one way): varies
Describe your commute: I go all over the place for work and my commute can be either 2 miles or 20 miles one way. I travel mostly on roads with car traffic, both with and without bike lanes. Occasionally I travel on the Minuteman Trail and the Charles River trail.
Describe your bike and accessories: I have several transportation bicycles, including an old Gazelle Dutch bike and a custom mixte built by Royal H Cycles. Fenders, racks, a good commuter pannier and dynamo lighting are must-haves for me when it comes to transportation.
What bit of advice would you like to share with new bike commuters?: Get a comfortable bicycle, take it one step at a time and stay within your comfort zone – That comfort zone will expand in no time.
