Bicycle Commuter Profile: Neil Mitchell

Name: Neil Mitchell
Location: Yarm, Stockton-on-Tees, UK
Started bike commuting: 2006
Commute distance (one way): 6 miles

Describe your commute: Mainly urban in traffic although I sometimes dip into the local park for a longer detour. I live on the top of a hill and have to pass through a river valley.

Describe your bike and accessories: Surly Karate Monkey set up as a commute bike. Alfine 8, Hayes 9 hydraulic disc brakes, dynamo hub handbuilt into Mavic rims. B&M senso IQ light, front and rear racks, usually carry ortileb panniers and of course you have got to have a Brooks saddle, this bike has a nice black sprung B67.

What bit of advice would you like to share with new bike commuters?: Get comfortable on your bike. Get a really good saddle and some ergo grips, you will not regret it.
