Bicycle Commuter Profile: Jay

Name: Jay
Location: Tel Aviv, Israel
Started bike commuting: 1996
Commute distance (one way): 8 miles

Describe your commute: Mostly interurban roads with wide shoulders and traffic lights. The city put in bike lanes on a small part of my route but they’re not designed very well.

Describe your bike and accessories: 1999 (steel) Gary Fischer Hoo Koo E Koo, standard 3X9 MTB gearing, flat bar slightly above the saddle, Brooks B17, large Carridice saddle bag with quick release bagman support, small Nashbar handlebar bag for tools and raincoat in winter, Schwalbe Marathon + tires

What bit of advice would you like to share with new bike commuters?: One of the best things you can do for yourself, but everyone will think you’re crazy. You need to be a little bit stubborn about it.
