Bicycle Commuter Profile: David Bolles

Name: David Bolles
Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
Started bike commuting: May, 2009
Commute distance: 17.2 miles

Describe your commute: My commute is on a few manageable roads but, mostly on the Schuykill River Bike Trail. Beginning in Philadelphia and taking me in to Montgomery County. I pass through Conshohocken and Norristown, hopping off at Kind of Prussia. Riding “alone” there is still company. Birds, squirrels, groundhogs, and occasionally deer accompany me, too.

Describe your bike and accessories: I ride a modified 87 Schwinn World Sport. My favorite part of it is the Brooks B-17 that was a wedding present. I have Planet Bike lights and fenders. Some kind of rack holds Ortlieb back roller panniers. Pricey sure but, worth the assurance that my belongings are kept dry in each rainy ride. A simple bike overall that consistently gets the job done.

What bit of advice would you like to share with new bike commuters?: Be alert at all times and be polite. The joys of bike commuting reveal themselves quickly but, each person will have a different experiences and realizations. Be grateful for them.
