California Dreamin’

Early Spring

We planned to take a short ride across town today, but it was so beautiful that we ended up finding one excuse after another to keep going and going. Eventually the morning slipped away; 20 miles and three stops later we ended up at home. I heard it reached 74F, though I didn’t bother to confirm. We’re certainly enjoying this bit of spring-like weather.

For those who are still struggling with ice and snow, we hope things improve soon! Feel free to send us photos of your beautiful summer weather when we’re complaining about 110F in July… :-)

    Alan,

    Good for the both of you. Yes, today was an exceptional day for a ride in our area. I too was able to sneak away for a relaxing morning bike ride. A little fresh air, sunshine, quiet streets and a stop at the local “mom & pop” for a fresh cup of coffee. I made it home just as my wife and children were waking up. I checked the air and brakes on all of our bikes just in time to ride as a family to church. It’s days like this that we are truly grateful for.

    Enjoy your week,
    Jeff

    It’s looking up here; it’s nearly freezing.

    I love it when that happens! :) You go out for a short ride and, all of a sudden, it feels so good you don’t want to come back home!

    This past weekend was such a time for me. Friday was a nasty, cold, snowy day in Austin (can you believe it?), but Saturday was bright and sunny and in the 70s. What a beautiful day for a ride. And Sunday was a repeat performance. What more could you ask for? Well, more days like that, for sure!

    I don’t dare show this post to my wife. Having grown up in Bakersfield, she is having a difficult time with our winters in middle Tennessee – 5 snows already, looking for more tonight…

    It sounds as if you might have nice weather for NAHBS, eh? Will you be attending?

    My wife would never make it there. Her ideal weather always involves shorts, sandals, and sunscreen… :-)

    It’s not a struggle. I love the ice and snow. It’s why I moved to Northern Minnesota. So I could have more ice and snow. I’m hoping for more cold and snow so that winter will last as long as possible.

    @Doug

    Well there you go. What do I know?… LOL. I’ll quit apologizing for our sunny weather now… :-)

    Alan,
    Yeah, I think I’ll be there. I will probably be taking pictures. I’ll send you some if you like, although they probably won’t be anywhere near the photographic standards of EcoVelo. ;-)

    Will do!!!!! ;)
