Bob Smith’s Photo Contest Entry

Bob Smith

This was taken on a 125KM (78mile) 3 day trip around Lake Hawea in the South Island of New Zealand. It was my first experience of cycle touring and camping, very enjoyable and I’m looking forward to some more trips. The bike is a Moulton and the “panniers” are small paper rubbish bins. The logo on the bins is “So bloody hot its Moulton”

I know it isn’t practical to have a “People’s Choice” award in this contest, but if there were such a thing I would vote for this photo. There’s nothing in particular that is outstanding, and yet … and yet … some ineffable quality just brings on a warm feeling and a smile.

From the contest call for entries:

“And, as if that wasn’t enough, we’re also reserving one prize for a “Readers’ Choice” award. Once all of the entries are in, we’ll set-up a poll and you, our readers, will be able to vote for your favorite entry. It should be a lot of fun.”
