These kids should see the Netherlands – we were blown away on Texel, when we had a whole high school (several hundred kids) cycle by us on an outing. The kids on the bikes are the norm there…
Definitely a program that should be encouraged and rewarded…
These kids are awesome. And way to model proper riding manners while also demanding their right to their space on the roadway.
I thought this was a double-post, but I couldn’t find it in the archives.
Looks like the kids are still keeping it up, though. Good on ‘em!
I have to admit that watching this makes me a little emotional (in a good way). Why is it that these teenagers are able to see the health, the benefits, use their right to the road (without a busing it), and just enjoy something that most of the country here is unable to appreciate. Good for them! I hope they do keep it up and that others are supporting them in this club.
This choked me up too. Bike Bus! Love it.
Great video! Great to hear them talk about responsible cycling, and using their right to the roadway. Bravo!
That is a great idea. Getting together at a rendezvous point and making it a group ride so they can travel more safely to school. Excellent!
Way to go!
How else should they get to school? You in the US have to reconsider the way you transport yourself. I bike with my 6-year old daughter to school every day (and my 2,5 year old son on the bike rack seat). They are not allowed to bike themself to school before they are 9 because of traffic. Police give them traffic lessons in school once every year.
