Irene and I celebrated our eighth wedding anniversary last night.
When we got married I was obese, but that changed when I started riding bicycles just over two years ago Irene didn’t know I’d become so obsessed with bikes, but she has come along for the ride. Literally.
We’ve gone on bike dates before, but this was our first car-free anniversary.
Coasting down a deserted stretch of road, we realized getting to and from your destination by bicycle is part of the fun.
Seeing the moon and stars, listening to the silence and truly experiencing the world around us, were moments we’d have missed in a car.
A ride like this reminds you what is important about riding bikes. It’s a joy.
Happy anniversary, Irene. Thanks for coming along for the ride.

I’m lucky to have a wonderful wife who was happy to spend our anniversary riding around on the back of an Xtracycle. I think she even had more fun than she thought she would.
