Brian Ong’s Photo Contest Entry

I have loved riding as a small kid back home in Singapore. I recently rekindled my love for riding bicycles after a long hiatus. I now work and live in Palembang, South Sumatra, Indonesia together with my lovely wife and my cheeky toddler son. On some days, we will pack the bicycles up in my VW bus and head for an open space near to our house for some riding. Palembang is not an ideal place for cycling. Dangerous roads, haphazard driving mannerisms, pollution and crimes are some reasons why. They do have a few spots which are ideal for cycling though. One of them is an old Dutch colonial residential estate where a large pond is located.

I’m trying to get my son to love cycling as much as i do. I hope to do more cycling when we move back to Singapore.

Cheers,
Brian Ong

Very nice! I really like the bike, it looks a lot like an old Raleigh. Great chain guard too. A friend of mine has the same child seat and his son has been riding in it since he was a baby and just loves it. It is often surprising the “calmer” places cyclists can find to ride.

    Adorable.
