Monday, Monday

I had a hard time getting going this morning, but, as always, once I was on the road it was all good. There’s nothing like bike commuting to get your day headed in the right direction.

Lovely pic! May I ask if you have ridden a Surly Cross Check as well? I got to ride one yesterday unexpected while on a bike ride up the Virginia Creeper trail. It fairly zoomed up the hill. I was wondering how similar/different it might be from a LHT? The Cross Check was so different from my Raleigh Route 3.0 that it was literally like the difference between riding our Thoroughbred mare versus our Belgian draft horse! I may be in love with a new type of bike:>. We did our longest ride ever at 50 miles yesterday (previously 17 miles was the record) and I really loved it:>. Now that I know there is so much Bike camping available within a 2.5 hr radius of the house I feel it calling:>.

That sounds like the beginning of most of my bike rides.

Thanks, Lisa. Congrats on your 50-miler!

I’ve ridden a Cross Check, but only briefly. It’s a bit lighter (not much), and a bit shorter, but not altogether different from an LHT. In this case, I think your particular component build and cockpit setup will contribute to the differences as much as the frames. One advantage the LHT has over the CC is longer chainstays which make it possible to use a wider range of bags without running into heel clearance issues – a big problem on a lot of bikes.

I can’t agree more. Once the fresh air hits my face, I start feeling good.
