National Physical Activity Plan

The U.S. National Physical Activity Plan was officially launched this week. The Plan was initiated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in 2008 after the release of the National Physical Activity Guidelines. Groups involved in developing the plan included the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, the American College of Sports Medicine, Stanford University, UCLA, and others. The plan focuses on 8 sectors, one of which is “Transportation & Community Planning”. The Plan specifically includes benchmarks for active transportation.
