REI Beginner’s How-To Videos

I ran across a nice set of beginner’s how-to videos on the REI “Bike Your Drive” website. They’re worth a look of you’re just getting started using your bike for transportation, and they’re worth passing along if you have a friend who is considering taking up bike commuting as part of the fast approaching May is Bike Month festivities.

I’m at work, so not going to watch those videos ’til later. However, if it’s any good, the ‘how to fit a bike helmet’ video should be compulsory viewing for all new cyclists and for all parents introducing their kids to cycling. So often I see people cycling along wearing a helmet (I now live in Australia where it’s mandatory to do so) but it’s so badly fitted that it won’t do them any good in an accident so they may as well not have bothered.

I’m not a big fan of wearing a helmet for most forms of urban riding, but if you wear one and it’s not fitting right it’s the worst of both worlds!
