Sacramento Tweed Ride
Sacramento’s inaugural tweed ride was a smashing success. We estimate over 80 people showed up, easily twice as many as expected. It appears there was a real desire for this kind of event in the Capitol City. The weather was perfect, the traffic was light, and the mood all around was one of good cheer. It was truly a pleasure to meet some of our online friends in person and we hope this ride was just the first in a series. Many thanks to ride organizers Rick and Erin and all the sponsors and venues that made possible such a wonderful event.

I’m surprised you were surprised by the turnout. There were probably twenty of us from the Bike Kitchen alone who were dead set on going; I figured that would translate out to a hundred or so riders.
It’s a shame I didn’t get a chance to meet you, Alan, but I was the second dapper chap from the right, with two handfuls of vice. Looking forward to next year’s tweed ride…
This is so cool. Thanks for bringing us all the pictures and the story! We have one coming up in DFW soon. I will go even if I can’t fit into my fancier trousers :)
Peace :)
lots of fun, cheers!
Well done chaps! Looks like everyone was is good form. These pictures are getting me pumped for DC’s tweed ride this weekend!

@Sharper
There were around 35 participants listed as confirmed, so the 80+ turnout was indeed a surprise.
I saw you in the dapper lad line-up, but didn’t realize it was you. Be sure to come up and “hi” next time.
Regards,
Alan
Well done. Everybody had a wonderful time. Hopefully this becomes at least a monthly event.
I like the black and white pictures, but sepia toned would be even more appropriate.
I disagree. The B&W helps perpetuate the dual myths that:
1) Biking in anything other than lycra is as obsolete and black and white film photography, and
2) Before 1950 or so the world was black and white. People imagine events in the early 20th century in black and white after being repeatedly shown photos of it in B&W. But I’ve talked to people who were alive in those decades and the worlds was distinctly colorful even back then!
