This is my riding partner dipping her bike in the Atlantic Ocean in Virginia. We had just finished a 4,200 mile coast to coast ride across the US. Talk about endless summer!
Thank you for all your kind comments! It was certainly an amazing ride that I’d highly recommend. We followed the TransAmerica route with excellent maps from Adventure Cycling (http://www.adventurecycling.org/routes/transamerica.cfm). Rode all summer to dip our wheels in the Atlantic — definitely worth the risk!

Wow, THAT’s a really beautiful photo! Congratulations for the journey! (hope the bike haven’t got fully underwater…?)
Congratulations, that’s quite an accomplishment. At the finish, you and your partner, must’ve been hard as nails.
Wow, great ride
I just asked some one else about bikes and salt water. Was it worth the risk or is it too soon to know?
Coast to coast rocks! It is definitely on my “bucket list.” The traditional “Wheel dip” is just part of the trip.
Gorgeous photo!
On my bucket list as well! Congrats! That’s one amazing image. I keep coming back to view it.
To answer the salt question: we did rinse them off. I’m (the person IN the photo) currently riding it as my commuter and joy ride bike. :)

If you had brought some scuba gear, you wouldn’t have had to stop just yet.
