  To answer the salt question: we did rinse them off. I’m (the person IN the photo) currently riding it as my commuter and joy ride bike. :)

  Thank you for all your kind comments! It was certainly an amazing ride that I’d highly recommend. We followed the TransAmerica route with excellent maps from Adventure Cycling (http://www.adventurecycling.org/routes/transamerica.cfm). Rode all summer to dip our wheels in the Atlantic — definitely worth the risk!
