Civia Bryant IGH Belt

As a follow-up to the post the other day on Civia’s new models for 2010, here’s an alternate photo of the Bryant, this one outfitted with an internal gear hub, belt drive, rack and fenders.

Ahhhh, much better.
Curious how the tension is adjusted with the replaceable vert dropout? Couldn’t tell from the CAD drawing on the website how this would happen.
Might be obvious but I’ve always left chain tension to my rear derailleur. :)
Now that one is cool. But STI shifters with an internal-gear hub? That’s new to me.
Found these snaps of the same model from Interbike,

I’m surprised there are so few pictures of this bike, maybe I’m just looking in the wrong places?
I’m guessing it might have an eccentric bb for tension adjustment. Then again, modern kevlar toothed belts may not stretch, so the point may be moot.

Thanks for the links, Larey. Cool shots…

Here’s a review on the Versa brifter for Alfine: Austin on Two Wheels Versa Review
Cool. I hope that the belt drive for bicycles really takes off. My motorcycle has one, and as opposed to a chain drive it doesn’t spew grease and dirt around, and requires next to no maintenance.
If only I could get one for my ‘bent. :-)
Very cool bike. Why the straight forks? Aren’t curved forks usually used for touring bicycles?
Yeah, straight forks are worse at absorbing shock. I was amazed when I replaced one (for other resasons) at how much better the ride was with a curved fork. Otherwise this is pretty much a functionally ideal bike.
The forks on my Salsa Casseroll is (are) almost identical to the straight forks on this bike. They feel fine to me but I don’t really have anything to compare it to.
Here’s a couple more Bryant pictures I found:

I’m trying to resist the temptation of mentally buying this bike before I see one, but it is looking more and more like my ideal commuter.
This is one sweet bike. Hopefully this is the future and more people buy these up and use em. Just awesome. I wonder what the weight is…
I believe it’s a horizontal dropout and the disc calipers also need adjustment with the wheel. This is a pretty sweet bike. Alot more money but check out Santos bikes out of the Netherlands for more belt drive bikes.
