We started EcoVelo back on May 16, 2008 and today we passed a major milestone; you’re looking at post #1,000.
People occasionally ask what motivates us to keep moving forward, finding new material, doing everything we can to keep it fresh. A recent note from one of our regulars sums it up:
“By the way, I hold Alan personally responsible, and am thankful, for our car-light decision.”
We’re super-excited about how far we’ve come, but we’re even more excited about where we’re headed. Many thanks to all of our loyal readers (and newbies too!) for coming along for the ride; let’s keep it rolling!

I didn’t realize your page was so new. I guess that means I’ve been following you since the beginning. You have no doubt contributed to my family stepping up our car-light lifestyle as well. It’s so refreshing to have such a positive, beautiful page to read that changes daily, often many times per day.

Congrats. You caused me to look at my stats. With 240 posts, I’ve got a long way to go to catch up.
ecovelo is the site that I most want to emulate. There are none other that I read consistently that are as well-written, well-designed and well-photographed.
I hate to look at my RSS feed to see that you’ve posted a second or third entry for the day when I struggle to do three entries a WEEK.
You’re a real asset to the cycling community.
hey congrats guys! i also found you all about 3 months back and have not looked back. 1000 is amazing, so are your comment numbers. i hope my little blog can someday grow up to be like ecovelo!!!
