Cerulean Blue Sunrise

I don’t have any idea whether it’s climate change or just plain-old weird weather, but I don’t recall ever seeing as much cool weather in June as we’ve had this year. And this following our strange 100F heat waves of April/May. I’m not complaining as I much prefer the cooler weather, but I had the odd sensation of being time-warped back to November this morning.

Similar phenomenon in North Dakota. I biked to work in a jacket, headband, and gloves this AM. I’m glad (I think) to hear that it’s not just us.

On another note, I’m happy to proclaim that my quiet, continuous efforts of biking to work over the years has made a difference here as well. I recently counted that I have directly influenced four others at work that now commute to work by bike (in fair weather): an ENT surgeon, his spouse, and two nurse anesthetists. The community you have created here has helped to push my family further and further into becoming even more car-light.

The weather has me all discombobulated up here in Chico. I’ve been wearing long pants and a fleece pullover in the mornings. Unbelievable. Salt Lake is evidently experiencing the same weather.

My wife and I just wrapped up a week in New Mexico, where we visited White Sands National Monument.

It’s a beautiful site where you’re hiking through sparkling white sand dunes 25 and 20 feet high.

What’s so mind-blowing (especially for us Florida folk) is that the dunes look so much like massive snow drifts that you feel like you should be shivering even though sweat is splashing off your face.

I’ve only posted a placeholder so far, but more pix are coming when I get caught up.

Oh, this is grand weather, I tell you, grand! I’ll be sorry to see it go. Best June ever for this cyclist in the southern Sierras. Highs here are usually in the 80’s at this point, but they’ve been in the 60’s for days and days. Yippee!

Sounds like our Western New York weather has migrated westward. Well some of it any ways– the cool-cool -cool is still here as well.Tights the first week of June–unreal–

It’s chilly here in the SF Bay Area, but that’s typical. We usually don’t get our summer weather until October. Brr!
