Superflash Rack Mount

Speaking of Planet Bike, I just ran across this awesome little light bracket. As many of you know, I’m a big fan of PB’s little Superflash tail light. Until now, I’ve been mounting my Superflash on my seatpost. This bracket allows you to mount the tail light on your rear rack in the “Euro” position—a better location if you use a rack trunk or routinely strap items to the top of your rack.

I’m ordering two today…

Yeah, I used those rack mounts to replace the Rear reflectors on our Burley with PB Blinky 5′s (so that I also had the integral reflector). However, they came with the Blinky 5, but work as well with any of the PB rear lights.

    Alan,

thanks for the reminder — i have been meaning to get one of these from the LBS, but Planet Bike ships for free, so I feel good about it. I went ahead and got a whole assortment of brackets. I only need a few lights, but they need to be able to go on every bike, right?

I bought one of these after losing my first superflash. I had jury-rigged a mount for it to stick it to the end of my rear rack. The light fell our of my jury-rig after about 6 months.
This commercial mount worked great. However, my second superflash separated from its back cover after about 2 months. I was left with the mount and the white back cover but, alas, no light. I decided to move on to a different light after that…

I’ve been looking for something like this for awhile now and I just placed my order for 3. Thanks for posting about it.

    Hi Alan,

When yours arrives, could you perhaps follow up with a photo and some notes on attachment options?

I ask because I can’t tell from the photo whether it’s intended specifically for “euro” style racks, i.e. those with a reflector/light attachment plate.

Even if that’s the case, I suppose it could be adapted to “regular” racks using a couple of small “p” clamps.

    Thanks,
    Mitch

    Hey Mitch,

Will do. They just arrived in the mail last night and I haven’t even looked at them yet. I’ll have photos for you tonight or tomorrow. One of my racks is “Euro” style, the other has the vertical “USA” style mount. I suspect it will work for both, but I’ll definitely follow-up and let you know how it goes.

    Alan
