Cool. There was another similar trunk (harder to get a hold of) floating around the interweb for a while. Supposedly very handy, but PB making it (having it made) will make it available to more of the masses.

I had a hard shell “pod” like this from Vetta in the 80s. The downside I found was that it was noisy. The pod served as a resonator for every vibration coming up from the road. I took it off the bike after about 7 miles.

Maybe the soft interior on this pod will reduce the noise level.

    YMMV.

A thin sheet of rubber or foam between the bottom of the pod and your rack will prevent most of this resonance.

The website doesn’t tell you how it attaches to the rack. I imagine it has a pretty universal mounting system, but it would be nice to know exactly what it is.

There are at least two others out there. The most popular seems to be the Otivia CargoCache. There’s also the ComCycle. The PlanetBike one looks remarkably similar to the ComCyle trunk.

    How much does it weigh…?

I like the idea of it, but I think the design could be better. It looks like it belongs more on a plastic scooter than on that nice looking bike. If the logos were a bit more understated, it might be a slight improvement. I am fond of PB’s lights though.

I got something similar (actually, looks virtually identical) from Amazon. Around $32 with free shipping. You do have to provide your own netting and “soft interior”. The brand is different, but I’m guessing it’s the same manufacturer. Search Amazon for “swagman trunk”.
