How You Got Here

If you clicked on a link pointing to www.recumbentblog.com and ended up here, welcome to EcoVelo. The Recumbent Blog is a site I maintained for a few years before starting this site. I left it online in a dormant state for approximately a year before shutting it down yesterday and setting up a redirect that points to this site.

You can read our mission statement here. Thanks for visiting and we hope you stick around! —Alan

Is there a way to access the content? If no, I would have saved it all to disk because I plan to eventually get a recumbent bike and thus to read your blog at that time. I also made a link to a lighting article you wrote: “Shedding a Little Light on Lights” which had a lovely explanation of beam patterns.

Removing useful content from the internet is something I’ve never really understood. If you don’t have time to maintain it, I thought you just put up sign saying so and turn off the comment features.

But it’s your content so you decide! I just have to remember that the nicest things can be ephemeral! :-)

    Hi Erik,

Unlike Blogger, WordPress.com, and other free blog services, blogs like this one and the Recumbent Blog have hosting and domain expenses associated with them. After shutting down the Recumbent Blog, I kept it on the web and continued to pay the expenses out of pocket for a year as a service to the recumbent community, but at this point it no longer makes sense to continue to incur costs on a dormant site. Sorry for the inconvenience.

    Regards,
    Alan

    Hey Erik,

What are you waiting for? Get that recumbent. There are many good sites to learn about them, take test rides, and decide which one is best for you whether you choose a new or used model. Recumbents have to be one of the most fun ways to get around town, and recumbent trikes are even better. After years of being a recumbent two wheel rider and enthuseast, I went to a ‘bent trike after being hit by a drunk driver. I can tool around town, run errands, and generally have a great time. I am a serious cyclist that has way more fun than on a “wedgie” and my Greenspeed GT5 is so comfortable that I could fall asleep in it. I get a lot of thumbs up and all comments are positive.
