Cheryl’s 1950’s Western Flyer was re-built by a handy friend that draws admiring glances from everyone that sees her riding it into town. The original bike was an eBay purchase and underwent a complete transformation using a mix of new components and finishes with vintage accessories. The rear wheel features an autoshifter re-cycled from a used LandRider bike while the front wheel features a hub brake.
The basket and the saddle bags are vintage reproductions – the reflector buttons are original to the rack, not the bag, and holes were punched through the saddle portion to feature them. The original painted fenders were replaced with chrome ones to match the bling on the rest of the re-build. The seat is original but pedals, grips and tassels are new, as are the paint job and decals. Cheryl rides her “Volvo Flyer” on short jaunts to the local grocery store and farmer’s market. For those longer trips beyond what is practical on the Flyer she rides her other Volvo.
