Amazing Little Things

An amazing little thing we would’ve missed had we driven a car instead of riding our bikes today.

I know this isn’t exactly bike related (well, maybe it is), but how do you get such nice crisp focus on your macro shots? You’re not carting a tripod around on your bike, are you?
I cycle (a little) on my Bacchetta Cafe and takes photos (a little) with my Olympus E-500. I enjoy both aspects of your blog very much.
Hi Rebecca,
“I know this isn’t exactly bike related (well, maybe it is), but how do you get such nice crisp focus on your macro shots? You’re not carting a tripod around on your bike, are you?”
These recent shots are all hand held, though I do occasionally use the bike as a brace to steady the camera. I’ve considered carrying a small monopod, though I haven’t found it necessary so far.
My camera is a Canon S3 IS. I’m no expert, but the S3’s image stabilization (IS) feature probably plays a role. I use spot metering/focus for still shots, and I always set the camera to ISO 80 which keeps the graininess to a minimum.
Regards,
Alan
