“Bicycle Commuting” Spikes Upward on Google

Google Trends allows users to see how frequently a topic is entered as a search term on Google:

With Google Trends, you can compare the world’s interest in your favorite topics. Enter up to five topics and see how often they’ve been searched on Google over time. Google Trends also shows how frequently your topics have appeared in Google News stories, and in which geographic regions people have searched for them most.

The term “Bicycle Commuting” took a major spike at the beginning of the second quarter of this year, almost directly coinciding with gas hitting $4 per gallon in the U.S.

    Aren’t gas prices lowering again? They’re back to three-something here. Or at least they were when I rode past the gas station the other day. It seems like if there were an apex of a revolution, it would have been a few months ago when the prices hit their peak (yes, I know the worst gas prices are yet to come).
