When I purchased this in 2003, it was the best bike I’d ever owned. During the first year I modified it to suit my needs. Flat handlebars instead of drop. MTB crank instead of road. And clips & straps instead of clipless.
Now that I use Bacchetta recumbents for most of my trips, the Trek has been demoted to a secondary utility bike. On weekends I hook it up to a trailer and haul recycling. And during the week, when I want a change of pace, I use it to commute.
And yes, that’s electrical tape on the grips. —Brad
